Edward J. Hazzouri serves as Chairman of Hazzouri and Associates. Prior to co-founding the firm in January 2013, Ed was Co-Chair of Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies, the firm’s public strategies and government relations group. Before joining Cozen O’Connor, Ed served as Director of Public Affairs in the Delaware Valley for Sunoco, Inc.
Ed focuses on resolving clients’ regulatory and legislative issues, advocating on behalf of major industries and trade groups. Ed has experience addressing all manner of client concern, from taxes and environmental rules to economic development and government procurement. He serves a broad range of industries, including oil and gas, chemical, health care, manufacturing, real estate, nonprofits and beverages. The foundation of Ed’s practice is his close connections with elected and administrative officials in Washington, D.C. as well as throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. He regularly works with high-ranking state officials, as well as with general assemblies and city councils in major metropolitan areas.
In addition to resolving isolated problems for clients, Ed conducts strategic advocacy on behalf of industries and trade groups in order to promote broad legislative or regulatory change. He directs government relations efforts, public relations, polling and canvassing, message development, coalition building and lobbying at every level. Ed also helps clients develop corporate philanthropic and political giving programs.
Ed earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Scranton in 1980, his law degree from the Temple University School of Law in 1983 and his LL.M. from the New York University School of Law in 1985. He was admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey in 1983.
